sewing and hand embroidery enthusiast - interested in teaching, learning and preserving the art and promoting an understanding of the historical aspect of sewing as it has evolved in our culture. I make slipcovers, curtains and do furniture re-upholstery work and hope to open a sewing workshop/learning center and retail shop in Beacon.

What's your favorite thing about Beacon?
Beacon has a wonderful and colorful history - the blend of the old and the new makes it a great place to raise kids if you want to them to value where they came from as well as where they are headed.

Needle Arts Guild of Historic Hudson Valley - Sewing Classes are on going

Mary Ann Kronk,  resident seamstress and teacher of all things Needle Arts related has open registration for sewing classes including quilting.  Recent quilting class was T-Shirt quilting.  A local mom gathered up her daughter's college/sorority T-Shirts wanting to make a memory quilt to give to her as a graduation present.  The quilt is turning out great and I would love to do more classes like this.  Memory quilts could be put together with outgrown baby clothing would make a terrific wall…

Sewing Workshop and Tea at the Madam Brett Homestead - Nov 12th at 11am

The Daughters of the American Revolution have graciously offered to host a sewing workshop.  So, I am pleased to be offering a sewing/hand embroidery workshop at the Madam Brett Homestead on Saturday, Nov 12th @ 11am - tea will be served at noon and workshop participants will be given a special tour of the Homestead.

You will receive instruction and demo while you work on a lovely holiday table runner/table topper to set your Holiday table.  A portion of the project will be pre-made…

Sew on and Sew on....

Hello Beaconites - The Needle Arts Guild has been giving sewing classes in Beacon (from my home so far) since July and I have had several really nice ladies come to sew with me.  I just wanted to let everyone know that fall classes officially started on September 8th and that registrations are open which means you can sign up for a six week session at your convenience. 

To expand the Needle Arts Guild's focus, I have also started making slipcovers, curtains and pillows - custom made…
