More about me:
After five years living in the desert in Tucson, Arizona, I'm excited to be near the water and all things green. I'm glad to be back in a small, New York community with deep roots (having grown up in a similar town south of Buffalo). Having spent time in Chicago, Louisville, and South India, I appreciate all the diversity of perspectives and creativity I see bubbling up in and around Beacon. I delight in my wife's love for color, cooking yummy food, and digging in the dirt. My daughter helps me to see the world with fresh eyes and not take myself too seriously. Both of them have taught me tons about patience and love. I'm a Presbyterian pastor who is passionate about abundant, joy-filled living. I appreciate deep, honest questions, and the myriad ways our hearts yearn for God (or, insert any other word you might prefer: the Divine, Love, Being, Reality). And, I honor the breadth of religious traditions that have emerged throughout history as we engage this Mystery. I understand that many folks are turned off by the whole Christian thing... and for lots of legitimate reasons. But, for me, following Jesus is a radical invitation to be more loving, more just, and more free. Though our scriptures are full of contradictions, I am regularly inspired by the wisdom of the Bible and the stories of how the Spirit moves in the midst of - and often in spite of - humanity, both flawed and beloved. I'm eager to connect with anyone in Beacon - whatever your background - who is open for honest, thoughtful conversation about life, meaning, God, and anything in between. I'm intrigued by the way art and faith both grasp at core, human experiences (http://imagejournal.org/page/about/) and I'd love to meet folks who see potential connections.
