AND come view our "Window on Main":
As an artist, Chelsey Freeman is very interested in how our beliefs and perceptions alter how we carry ourselves in the world. Beliefs, in this case, refer to our understanding of particular interactions and relationships in the day-to-day world. Are our experiences true reflections of our circumstances? Or do we lie to ourselves (whether conciously or unconciously) to get by, to make the world a little less harsh? Whether these lies are large or small, she is curious how such mental shifts play out in our everyday realities. "Dirty Laundry" is an installation rooted in secrets. Cryptic confessions that are taken from the artist own life, have been reversed and take the form of both quiet and confrontational questions and images and force the viewer to reflect upon the manner in which he or she weaves their own way through life. Whether we let our weaknesses and fears control us, or are confident as we navigate our environment, we are sure to find we are all more alike than we believe.
