The comment made about the Yankee Clipper is so not true. I don't believe a single word of that nonsense. The Diner has great food, a good staff, and above all it's owners are equally wonderful. It sounds like you had a bad day.

@beacontessa- it's a diner, their menu has everything from salads to fried stuff. How is it lacking in nutrition?

A greek salad at YC is way more nutritious than the chocolate chunk cookie at Homespun. It depends on what you order!

I have been to a lot of diners in my time. Yankee Clipper is one of the best of them. Not the best restaurant, but best diner. If you have expectations of a CIA experience, you are going to be disappointed.

The staff has never been anything but friendly and accommodating. I am a fan.

Yankee Clipper Diner has very nice owners and the food is just like most diners ...big portions, lacking in flavor and nutrition and seems like a bargain to the consumer. We have much better places in Home Spun,All You Knead,Crumb to name a few.Take the noisy kids to the Clipper and let the rest of us eat in peace in a local, good for you establishment.

I love the Yankee Clipper. I have gone since I was a little kid, I went back the week they were open after that horrible fire years ago. Nice owners, GREAT wait-staff, really good food, and cheaper than most diners.

Can some people please just lighten up? It's celery. It's summer, you're healthy, you live in a great city of warm, friendly people. It's all good.

Dear Beacon NY:

If you have bad experience at a local restaurant, take it to management. If you still feel unsatisfied, you may take it to a public forum like this one, but be aware that it might be better to just let your bad experience slide.

Because the public might not side with you. They might ridicule you, as the latest Yankee Diner thread shows. And they might be right to ridicule you: to feel so entitled to so much wrath over a genuinely minor sleight?

Your post might say more about your own vindictiveness than it says about the quality of the restaurant. The public shaming might be yours, not the restaurant. So be careful when you try to take these bad restaurant experiences to the court of public opinion. You could lose. It might be the better part of your discretion and character to just let the perceived sleight slide. We are all jostled and shoved on a daily basis, we can't let these minor abuses bother us so much. It just makes it worse.

With that in mind, hopefully we can have less of these "let's bash the local restaurant because there was a fly in my soup" threads we seem to have a recent rash of in this site. Ridiculous.

Kate, so glad you posted it like this. I didn't want to put it back to the top.  How silly to do that over a tuna fish sandwich.  To try a punish a business over what $8?   Because of celery?  Perhaps they should make their own tuna fish sandwiches so they don't have to be on contact with regular people.
