City emergency management staff are continually monitoring the storm.  As needed, public announcements will be posted on the City website at www.cityofbeacon.org, on Channel 22, on the following radio stations – 101.5, 106.1, 92.7, 96.9, 97.7, 94.3, 97.3, and on the following additional websites – WRRV.com, WPDH.com, Mix97fm.com, Hudsonvalleycountry.com and Hudsonvalleyclosings.com and BCN (of course).  Please check any of these sources for updated storm information.

Storm Update.....

The City of Beacon hereby reminds the public of the following restrictions related to the snow storm.  Please refer to the City Code for additional information on snow related restrictions and fines.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT

Please be advised that parking restrictions are in effect in the City of Beacon until 9:00 a.m. December 28, 2010.  City Code dictates that “It shall be unlawful to place, park or leave any automobile, truck or other vehicle on any public road or street within the corporate limits of the City of Beacon after any fall or accumulation of snow of two or more inches, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., or when parking on said public road or street obstructs the removal of snow …” 

BLOWING OF ICE AND SNOW ON CITY STREETS

“It shall be unlawful for any person to blow or place snow or ice onto City of Beacon public streets or roads by mechanical or physical means.”

Yes, it was wicked. The difference between this storm and the "big" one last year was the weight of the snow. There was less moisture this time, more powdery snow, so no power outages (as far as I know), therefore there was no need for a warming center.

Steve  Will there be a warming station set up at Thompkins Hose as there was during th ice storm/blackout last year?
