Beacon Citizen Network (BCN): a place for neighbors to get the word out, be heard and stay informed in all matters concerning Beacon, NY.



Beacon is declaring a State of Emergency as of approximately 12:00 PM. Only emergency vehicles are permitted on city streets. There is an ongoing evacuation of some areas experiencing rising flood waters near the mountain. The roads need to be clear for evacuation emergency vehicles.

See my post for pictures of flooding on East Main Street. I am not sure what the water source is and I have not yet confirmed that the dam at Pocket Road has been breached, but there was significant flooding from another direction (some have said a pipe was involved) that spilled over into Pocket Rd and on to East Main Street.
