Beacon Citizen Network (BCN): a place for neighbors to get the word out, be heard and stay informed in all matters concerning Beacon, NY.

Preserve the local harvest with friends.

Put-Ups are coming to the Hudson Valley!

What's a Put-Up?

A "Put-Up" is our concept for creating an off-line network for preserving local food with friends (including those you haven't met yet ;). Master-Canner KayCee Wimbish will share her skills with 6 lucky kitchen enthusiasts as we concoct a different product each month with fresh produce from my farm -- Loose Caboose! Not only do you leave each Put-Up with a pint of our finished product, you'll also take home the raw produce and the know-how to safely and confidently do it on your own!

When are Put-Ups?

Put-Ups will begin in July and run through October.

Where are Put-Ups?
Accord: Third Monday of each month in July - Oct.
Beacon: First Wednesday of each month in July - Oct.
Germantown: Second Wednesday of each month in July - Oct.
Tivoli: Fourth Wednesday of each month in July - Oct.

Why Put-Up?

Good produce that's preserved at the peak of freshness has more nutritional value than anything you can find in cans or freezers at the store. Most of the ingredients will only have to travel a few miles from my farm. Long winters are brighter with a shelf of beautiful jarfuls of home-made food. Reduce the drudgery of seemingly endless chopping by getting together with a small group of folks and really enjoy the process of food preservation.
