There is a dog wandering Cliff Street. Collar, no tag.

Is she (he?) yours?

I don't speak Dog, so I have no idea how or why she got so cold, scared, and lonely.

Happy ending! Thank you to the Beacon PD, who took a lost-dog report this morning and called the dog's very worried family. A grand reunion at the BPD station!

And thank you all for your support.

Looks like a nice dog.  Hopefully, nobody just abandoned it hoping a good home for it would result (but if someone abandoned it, then ANY other home is probably good in comparison)  We had a resident in our neighborhood who had a really nice Husky that they left chained to a post in their yard ALL the time.  It got loose one time and was the happiest we ever saw it.  We asked the owners if they were looking for a good home for it, but they said they loved the dog too much to give it away!

I've found dogs before. The police haven't taken them and ARF couldn't either....however the family had reported him missing so we were able connect through the police. Is there any way you could take a photo of the dogs face so we can share on FB?

You can also post to this website, and I think it will get onto their FB page also - Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley :

Ben, thanks for the suggestion. The police station is right down the street so that's an easy idea. I was thinking of asking ARF to take the dog in, but I don't know if it works that way.

Joan, thanks for posting to FB. The "garage" is warm, it's part of the basement. I couldn't leave her out all night, it got really cold. I don't FB, but if there is page for The Barkery or the dog park, could you leave a message there too? Thanks!

Thank you both for helping!

After 9 I'll call ARF

Oh dear. Can you put the dog in a room with a door? I'll post to the Beacon facebook page. What's your contact number?

I went running once and a random dog followed me. I ignored it but after a mile it was still close behind my heels. When it ran out into 9D traffic and drivers had to slam on their brakes, and I started getting death stares (they naturally assumed it was my dog), I acted.

I ran to the police station, it followed me in, and I left it with the guy at the front desk.

So that's one possibility: take it to the cops.

Now she is making sad whimpering sounds in the garage.

Too cold outside. Cat inside.
