Forming a Hudson Valley Exchange B2B Barter Network

Hi all,

I organized a workshop a few months ago in collaboration w beahive - Community Stimulus: Local Currency + Barter Networks,' to gauge interest locally in this topic area.

I've been in regular communication with Amy Kirschner, (who spoke at the workshop) who runs the Vermont Sustainable Exchange, a b2b trade network there. we've been talking about the potential of having a Hudson Valley Exchange that would link with theirs. we've also been talking with people in other regions around the country who are also interested in forming this network.

A current example is the Smokey Mountain Hollers Company, a community-owned cooperative trade exchange that is just in the process of launching now in Western North Carolina. Check out their website to see more about how it works & their principles.

I'd like to form a working group (or join an existing one, if people are already working on this) and start having meetings and getting pledges from local / regional businesses who would operate on this exchange if it existed.

Please let me know if you're interested in joining this conversation!

ok, then our first step would be to walk from business to business all up and down main street and speak with each business owner and tell them about how a business exchange network works, how it saves them money, and then ask them if they want to form one.

I'm still interested, Venessa.
