Yeah I never understood why ticks don't get more attention. It's a full blown health crisis.

We give more attention to shark week, when walking in tall grass will debilitate you in your own backyard, either through Lyme, or some of the more exotic diseases ticks carry that are rare but getting more prevalent.

PS: there was a vaccine in the '90s, but it was shelved when there were too many adverse reactions. But nowadays they are working on a new vaccine that confers immunity through a different route.

Oh, that's horrible. I just heard a report on the news that they've finally realized that the tick-borne disease epidemic is far worse than the reported cases would indicate. When are more resources going to be allocated to find a cure or a vaccine?
