Call for art
Calling all artists who use, deconstruct, transform or re-form books as art. Looking for artists whose art practice is inspired or informed by previously printed books in a visual way. Works must be 2D and must hang on a wall. There is no size limit. Preference given to artists residing in the Hudson Valley of NY but any US artist may submit. Must be 18 years old.
NOT looking for hand made or artist-made books of original art (unless those books are made from other books.)
A book can mean different things to different people. It is a wealth of ideas, an escape for the mind, a springboard to another life. To kick off the new exhibition space at the Howland Public Library in Beacon NY, we are curating a show called Bound to Printed Matter, an exploration all ways the book can be re-formed into works of art.
To submit: email no more than 5 low resolution images to be considered for this show along with a CV and a short statement about your work. Please include a phone number where you can be reached. Proposals for as yet unfinished work cannot be considered at this time. There is not fee to enter. Artists whose work is chosen will be notified by phone.
Deadline: June 29th
Show opens: September 8th 2012
Closes Nov 3, 2012
Email submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org with “submission” in the subject line.
