A male Beagle wandered into a home off of 301 in Cold Spring on Sunday. He is sweet, lovable but very confused and scared. He is not neutered and is wearing a brown leather collar with a phone number carved into it (453-0333). The number is disconnected. Please help us find this dog's owner! We are fostering it for now, but would like to reunite him with his family. nfeds@yahoo.com

UPDATE! We found Roscoe's owner. He was very happy to be reunited with him. We'll miss the little guy though, but glad he is back with his family!

Intelius has two possible addresses for that phone number (Providence, RI & Pleasant Valley, NY):

http://www.intelius.com/results.php?ReportType=33&qnpa=845&...

If the dog has been licensed, there should be a Dept of Ag # on the tag that can be traced back to the person who filed for the license.  If the dog has a microchip, usually animal control or vets have a wand to get the serial number to try to trace it back to the person who bought the chip.

If the owner does indeed live in Pleasant Valley, they may have called their local animal control resources to inquire whether they have seen it.  Town of Pleasant Valley's animal care contacts are listed on their website as:

  • Animal Control and Shelter
    • SPCA - 845-452-1640
  • Animal Emergency Care

The only other option I can think of at the moment is to see if your local police department would be sympathetic to reverse search the phone number for a name and address.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any more questions.

Beagles can really travel is there a way to post it lost down to Peekskill and up to Walpingers?

Thank you Ally, I hope we find his owner and if not, at least a caring new home for him. We had him checked out at the vet today and aside from some cuts on his paws he's healthy. The Vet was actually pretty surprised at his condition. Birdy, I googled the number with no luck. But thanks!

I shared this with my friend who started a blog for animal shelters.. I'm not sure if it will help but I passed it along so hopefully it will help to find the owner.
