Beacon Open Studios organized by Theresa Gooby and sponsored by Beacon Arts Community Association (BACA) has attracted the work of a record number of artists in 2009. From September 25-27, 2009 artists living and working in our city will show you why we say ‘Beacon: the art happens here.’ You’ll find these artists at the usual places like the Beacon Studios at the old high school, Spire Studios, and The Mill on Rt. 52. There are also artists are also opening up their home studios and other spaces for just this occasion.
This celebration of working artists opens Friday night September 25th 7-10pm at 460 Main Street in Beacon with a group show featuring single works from each of the 48 Open Studios participants. Food and beverages will be served and the event is free and open to the public. This location will be open all weekend long and should be considered Beacon Open Studios HQ.
For your viewing convenience, Saturday’s studio shows will be on Beacon’s West Side and Sunday’s on the East Side. Studio hours are 10am – 4pm on Saturday and 11am -4pm on Sunday. Most locations are within walking distance of each other – though you may wish to drive to The Mill location on Saturday.
There is also a closing party at Spire Studios at 45 Beekman Street on Sunday evening starting at 5pm with entertainment , art, food and drink for all.
Look for the official Beacon Open Studios maps at 460 Main Street and various locations in Beacon and the surrounding area. To help you find your way around, look for the big red Beacon Open Studios logo on lawn signs and posters at the studio locations. If you need help finding something or someone special, stop by 460 Main Street and we’ll help guide you where you’d like to go.
