Beacon Newburgh Bridge toll hike now in effect.

It went up 50 cents. I'm hoping they remove those stupid ads on the toll arms. They seem so dangerous.

Haven't you seen cars stop short? Usually it is people with the EZ Pass and the arm is coming down from the car in front of them.   Shouldn't those arms be considered official legal highway signage?  Soon we will have advertising on stop signs. Heck people don't stop anyway, why not?   It is like that cover on the big word sign on the other side of the bridge. Saint Mary College I believe.  A couple months ago there was one warning sign about a fatal truck accident blocking 84. Just one warning sign, while the other was covered with an advertisement.  I saw the ONE sign but was thinking there would be another confirming and thus did not turn around on 9W like I should have.

Anna,  What is so dangerous about the advertising?  Just curious.

Greg: the toll discount works automatically if you use any NYSBA bridge a minimum number of times every month. Considering where you live and work its a fit for you.

Serious question. EZ-Pass. Should I have the Standard Plan or the NYSBA Discount plan if I'm only going over the NYSBA bridges? No Thruway, no tunnels, no Metro-Bridges. It sounds like I get the discount either way, but I'm not sure i'm reading it correctly.

I kind of liked the halloween one :-)

Anyone who uses the bridge a lot: make sure you sign up to the discount program on the ezpass website. Took my wife and I a year to discover that.
