Beacon Boutique Presents Unique Art Exhibit

Aug 26, 2010 – Blackbird Attic, a vintage-inspired consignment boutique in Beacon, N.Y., is hosting a four-week art exhibition, "Applied Biology", featuring artist Jason Levesque. Commonly known as "Stuntkid," Levesque is a self-taught illustrator from Norfolk, V.A.
The exhibition kicks off with an event on Saturday, September 11 from 6-9pm and continues to October 9. Levesque's artwork will be available for purchase.
Levesque's work has been used in magazines and periodicals around the world. His arresting images, many of which present gorgeous women in less than lovely situations, stems from his fascination with biology and earth sciences.
"Many times I'm inspired by a science-based subject I'm reading about," says Levesque. "I'll get excited about something in the natural world and try to mesh it into my illustration work."
Levesque's haunting images are a combination of hand drawings, photography, and Photoshop editing.
"If the subject matter is something really foul, like slugs, I'll balance the repulsion out with pretty colors," says Levesque. "The pretty face draws you in, the mollusks repulse you then the pretty colors draw you back in."
