They stopped singing last night somewhere between 6 and 7 PM. Apparently this species only sings during the day. This morning they were back at it bright and early. Pretty darn loud right now!

Yes, up here in the backwoods of Beacon Hills there is a space ship about to land. I can see hundreds hanging from the branches. No word if they will make it to the city proper. Take a drive up here and check it out, the sound is deafing.  Other than the fact my dog thinks they are a snack, it's kind of cool, at least for once every 17 years.

There are a gazillion of them here in Beacon Hills. All over the streets, everything, everywhere. The noise is really amazing and very loud. Sounds like a flying saucer is about to land.

just took my dog for a walk and wasn't until I was heading back to the house that I realized there was no noise down by the junction of Pocket Rd and East Main - once I got past the brook and Mt Beacon Monument Rd, shazam! You can hear them again.

come up to Mountain Ln - esp at the end of the road. TONS of them! Saw my first ones Wed and certainly killed a few adults when I was weed whacking yesterday. Don't feel too bad as I know there are millions out there ;)
