Miz Hattie's Southern BBQ — a smoky fixture of the Sloop Club festivals — may soon have an outpost at our Sunday farmer's market. Hallelujah!! I can't wait for that, since Paul and I lined up for 'cue today at the Pumpkin Fest only to find they'd sold out in 2.5 hours due to overwhelming turnout.

For anyone who has been unable to sample Hattie & Eric Hess' true North Carolina-style pulled pork, hickory-smoked pork ribs, and the best coleslaw you'll ever have, call her and have her send you a menu. Based right here in Beacon, she'll work with you on a minimum order (think $50+), so consider having your next party catered. She also offers fried chicken, baked beans, corn bread and dirty rice.
