Main Street Sharrows Initiative - Bikeable Beacon, Scenic Hudson, Beacon Streets

We need your support: Bikeable Beacon and Scenic Hudson has been advocating that the city of Beacon put sharrows on Main Street (and other thoroughfares of the city) for some time. Sharrow is short for 'shared lane bicycle marking', and painting them on Main Street would make clear the current regulations for bikes, which is a/ no bikes on the sidewalks, and b/ bikes and cars share the pavement. Disc Golf Grand Opening - Sept 17th 4:30pm

The front nine baskets are set and ready for play.  Beacon Recreation has launched this new game in one of our new Parks.  This Grand Opening will offer the community the opportunity to come up and learn how to play.  Meet at the University Settlement Camp Pool parking lot at 4:30pm.  Check out our website and feel free to call for more information.

HELP OPEN THE POOL - Get a Family Pass

THE CITY OF BEACON POOL AT THE UNIVERSITY SETTLEMENT CAMP

The City of Beacon Recreation Department is hopeful to once again have its public pool open this summer for area residents to enjoy. Due to budgetary constraints the community pool at University Settlement Camp was closed last year. University Settlement Pool Hours

City of Beacon Recreation announced the summer 2008 pool hours:
Mon-Fri 11am to 1pm, 5pm to 7pm
Sat & Sun 12-6pm

Does anyone know the history of the University Settlement Camp? I'd be curious to know.

River Pool is open!



The design of the partially submerged pool is environmentally sensitive and makes for a safe wading area that protects bathers from boaters and currents. With a permeable floor and sides that work as a below-water fence, the twenty-foot diameter wading pool allows river water to flow through it. The entire structure is supported by floating fiberglass seats in rainbow colors.
