The Lovely Daffodil - by B.J. Moose, Esq.

I saw a lovely daffodil,
followed its scent into the hills.
The sky got dark
and wouldn't you know,
the daffodil was mired in snow.
Now it's too cold but
have no fear,
I'm coming to Max's for a beer!
(I hear celebrities get special treatment there)

Does Beacon's Dog Warden actually "catch" dogs?

Someone a few houses away has two dogs that terrorize our neighborhood. They roam leashless at various times during the day, and regularly bark at and chase hikers coming up and down Pocket Road. Of course they crap on everyone else's lawns and annoy everyone but their owners.

I have complained to the dog owners with no success. Of course these are the kind of people who, when confronted with the issue, proceed to slap the dog's snout and yell at the dog because as we all know this… Continue

Vandalism at First Presbyterian

Saturday afternoon one of our neighbors pointed out some pretty disappointing vandalism on the Amity Street side of our church (at 50 Liberty Street). This message feels particular violating for our congregation, but we also understand that whoever wrote this has got some serious anger and looking for someone to blame.

The police came by and were sympathetic, but they were clear that it wasn't their top priority. I've been hesitant to post this because I've observed that BCN…

Raw Sewage at Madame Brett?

While walking my dog Sunday morning (12/12), I noticed the sewage discharges in Madame Brett park were overflowing with raw sewage -- lots and lots of it gushing out, right next to the hiking trail. It seems really unsafe, not to mention disgusting. Is this a normal occurrence in the rain?

Beacon Fitness Center

I'm fairly new to Beacon but when I moved here a heard from a few people the Beacon H.S. fitness center was a great deal. So since it looks like there are a lot of other Beacon newbies on here I wanted to pass the tip along. Right now it's $95 for the spring and is available to all Beacon residents. This is the second winter I've joined and so far I mainly just use the tread mill, but they have a lot of other equipment for the more serious than myself. You can also use the indoor pool at no… Continue
