Newburgh, Number 1 Murder City in New York State with Poughkeepsie coming in 2nd.

NY Magazine has a story on Newburgh which should discourage anyone from crossing the river.  The good thing is the article states it is nothing like its Bohemian neighbor, Beacon.

This past May, the Sargent-Downing Gardens and Nursery was planted at the Settlement Camp! Thank you to everyone in the community who came out and those who have been helping since the start. Beacon deserves better (Not to be confused with Thomas Cunningham's Group  BDB)

What is going on around the city? Just before the election it looks like the “good ole boys” are trying to get back in? First the Democratic signs are vandalized, then all that talk about,”I can make that happen. What ever your issue, you have a friend who can take care of you.”  Really!  Let’s think!  There are two signs, one Democratic and the other Republican, the Democratic one gets vandalized…

Tot Park at Memorial Park Vandalized Friday Night

Memorial Park has been vandalized. I arrived at Memorial Park this morning to find many toys smashed to bits and tiny, sharp broken pieces of plastic everywhere. It was heartbreaking. The park is not currently safe for children to play in until we can organize a clean up team. We need volunteers today for the cleanup. Also, if anyone has any toys to donate, we could use some to replace what has been destroyed. We called the police this morning to file a report, but they had already been alerted… Continue

Yes that is right. We need your help with Electric Projected . As most of you already know the original massive outdoor projection event was scheduled for August 6th 2011. Unfortunately we got blindsided by a freak storm and we had to cancel the event. Since we were already set up and ready to go, we still had to pay for all the rented equiptment and we lost all the money we raised. (over…

You Going to the Cupcake Competition?

What a treat - eek! no pun intended ;)

Sugar-designers are coming to Beacon Sept 16 and 17 (as you know....the Event is posted here at BeaconCitizen). Take your pick of browsing the cupcake designs, vendors, demonstrations, or taking a class. Should be fun! It's at the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon NY on Liberty, and all profits go to benefit that church. The minister man Ben is a friend, so I'm going to show my support! He's a cool dude.
