today's Poughkeepsie Journal. The proposed budget would add 2% to your electric bill and 1.4% for natural gas, according to Central Hudson. "If the increase goes through, it will be on top of whatever rate increase the state Public Service Commission allows Central Hudson to charge." good grief.
other highlights:
- The state will keep 80 percent of the unclaimed deposits, which will…

In November 2008, a worm, dubbed 'Conficker' started spreading through Windows-based PCs and lurking dormant in the background. The virus is set to be activated tomorrow - no one knows how many computers are infected, but estimates are as many as a few million. The worm will allow Conficker creators to steal information from your computer, send out spam emails from it, attack other websites from it, or possible wipe out your files.
Below is a link to resources to help you find and…

I saw
this article in the NYT this morning, about a new web service by Hewlett-Packard called
Magcloud. The service enables hobbyists to create their own glossy color magazine for less than the price of running off copies at Staples. They're hoping to appeal to niche communities - the article says they envision "people using their PCs to develop…

As it stands unless Albany steps in, MTA will raise fares and this would effect anyone coming and going to Beacon via train esp. commuters.
The price would be according to one report 30 % increasing which is another 50.oo added to a monthy pass. I'm sure to some this would be a push to do more work from home or join coworkers group, but not all can do that. There are families who are struggling and can't do another 50.00.
Also I wonder if this could have an effect on people moving…

I'd just like to alert everyone that there has been a recent rise in computer virus infections in the last few months. I've had two customers in the last week with infected systems...
If you have anti-virus software on your computer please remember to keep it up to date with the latest virus definitions. For those of you that do not have anti-virus software, there are some free offerings out there that you can take advantage of. One of my favorites is AVG Free which I use on my own…

My husband and I were part of a Brooklyn bar league league for years and would love to find or start a league here if there is any interest! No great skill needed just fun to get out and play! Does anyone know of any mens or co-ed leagues in the area?

A dapper older gentleman with silver hair to match his necktie and a doublebreasted pinstriped blue blazer sang 'way off key in between growlingly exhorting his audience to catch the fervor. The audience ignored him in favor of their huge platefuls of delicious-looking food, served buffet-style.
Exiting the place, I wrote the last verse of a little gospel song of my own I'll finish by and by about a divorcing couple:
She stood up in court in her harlot's red blouse.
I…

Well, it's come down to the last day and, even though it's still early, there have already been two people in to bring well wishes for the future. It's nice to have been part of the attempt at keeping Main Street hopping and I hope this last attempt this evening actually gets people dancing around!
Thanks to all who've been so supportive and I hope to see a lot more more of you this evening!

Hey all,
So I guess the BCN is all grown up - spam members/posts are becoming a little more common - two in the last week. One was a post about hgh (human growth hormone) and then yesterday "Harriette Austin" may have commented on your page about ringtones.
I'll delete these as soon as I see them but feel free to send me a message when you spot them.
Thanks,
Kelly

Thank goodness the weather is almost warm enough to start my list of outdoor projects this season. One of the first on the docket is installing a green driveway. I'm looking at several options - either a pervious concrete, pavers, or the plastic lattice system where grass grows right through and you can barely even tell there's anything amiss. I'm not aware of any green driveways in Beacon (except for at the Beacon Institute's new Dennings Point facility). If anyone has suggestions of a good…
