Impact of Hudson Baylor

Today I had a rep from Royal carting come in to renew my dumpster agreement which I must have by law in Beacon. In conversation he said a few things I did not know. 1) Trash from beacon does not go to a landfill, it is incenderated. 2) Beacon has seen a 30% increase in recyclables due to the new bins. The reason for the new bins is that all recycle now goes to Hudson Baylor, which does not require seperated recycle. Which the old county plant does.

I'm pretty sure political maneuvering will keep the Correctional Facility open

But if Cuomo wants to close the Beacon Correctional Facility, then Cuomo has to pressure the MTA to let us use the defunct Beacon Line for tourism purposes.

If Albany is going to hurt Beacon's economic base, Albany has to do something to help build a new economic base.

NYC has the Highline, Poughkeepsie has the Walkway over the Hudson, give us our Beacon Line, Albany.

If and when things aren't going our way with Albany, demand this…

Beacon 1996 trail sign

Recently I found some old rolls of film (back in the 20th century cameras had something called 'film' and had to be processed with nasty chemiclas to retrieve the images) I had a CD made for the modern PC friendly digital images. Most of these old pictures were of a 1990s cycling adventure I had gone on.I had deduced, from the fact I had taken a photo of an Amtrak Turboliner and the photo of the train and locomotives used by Metro North I had taken to Beacon, the year was 1996.

This is today, Long Dock Park. I don't remember this there last week, but with the ice... maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I approached... then I got the impression there is someone in there. I hope he's getting weather reports, the nor'easter coming tomorrow would be a nasty surprise. Then again, it also might refloat him.
