"Thanks for the River Sweep update, Bill. That's too bad, it was fun to get out in the kayaks for a good cause--and plenty of people participated on the shore as well.
As for re-starting the clean ups, why…"
"After much initial interest, participation quickly waned. We had a very inactive 2010. Personally, I discovered geocaching and practice CITO and have adopted a couple of spots, but as far as the group goes it has not done anything of…"
"Hi everybody. The melting of the snow revealed a bumper crop of trash this year. If anyone's interested in a little early cleanup, I'm there...A question, is the Great River Sweep no longer held? My husband and I participated for several…"
"If there's no group clean up for Dennings Point this fall, I'll make sure to bring a bag and gloves next time I go visit there.
Thanks to the last fall clean up at the entrance area to Mt. Beacon, it still remains fairly clean except a…"
I told SH that we will do the foot of Mt.Beacon this month after all.
They sounded very happy that we are doing this and one person from SH will join our clean-up on the 20th. Someone mentioned about organized hike are scheduled same day and time on the board. But that doesn't seem to be a problem with them at all. So we are okay to go.
I just heard from SH. There won't be any insurance issue as long as we are not using any tools or machinery. So maybe someday in a future, we can do the Mt. Beacon. After all, Mt. Beacon is one of the most abused parks yet its one of the most valuable asset of our town.
When I walked down to the fleet greet today I had the opportunity to walk the length of Wolcott (9D) from St. Lukes Church Long Dock. It could use our help, Perhaps a group could meet at River Terrace, and another one at the Mt. Beacon Park and work towards each other.
If the focus is Riverfront Park rather than Dennings Point, then it makes sense to park by the boat house. The day of the Riversweep the group working south of the "harbor" ended before they got to a really bad section behind the house that Scenic Hudson uses (Barney Cohen's old house). I worked there until I ran out of bags, but left quite a bit not picked up.
I know its hard to believe but I just found this message from you (and the others). I guess dpw found the bags at riverfront par by now. I know they picked them up the next day after the main street collection because I was aware of them....but not the riverpark ones. Than you for your efforts. Its truly wonderfull.
