I have lived in Beacon for over 10 years. My first husband died here and I married my second husband at the First Presbyterian Church here in Beacon. I bought my home here as well. I started an online business called Beacon Baskets which is registered in Poughkeepsie.

What's your favorite thing about Beacon?
I love the city with the small town feel. I have always loved the changing of the seasons, but with the Hudson as a backdrop, the seasons are even more beautiful. I love the friends I have here.

Girl Scout Project- Ages 7-14

Hey Beaconites! Now is the time to get involved in your community. The Tioronda Girl Scouts is trying to help the Fresh Air Fund at Sharpe Reservation. Many of these inner city kids show up for camp with only the clothes on their backs. Hey Beaconites pt 2

When I posted the blog "hey beaconites", I never thought I would receive so many responces. Some negative, some positive. The reason I posted the question is because I wanted to open a small store in Beacon and wanted to know what would be a great idea. I was asking you, the beaconites, for help. Now we all know Trader Joes is not coming to Beacon. I like the idea of a craft/models store. A book store? No. Unfortunately, like someone posted, book stores don't last here. What other ideas are…
