How long have you lived in Beacon?
Extended stays on and off since 2003
More about me:
I'm a photographer first and foremost (
but I also work in real estate, both as a licensed agent, and as
an active investor. My wife and I currently own 8 single family
homes in Beacon. We think of them as our "retirement " account
since neither one of us is a " saver ". I've just finished the gut
renovation of two houses at 5/7 Bridge Street and am looking
for truly great and appreciative renters. The places deserve
it ! The location and decks are simply amazing !
My website:
What's your favorite thing about Beacon?
I love the energy and the hopefulness of the place. I've seen
Beacon undergo major change since I first came in 2003, and
all of it has been positive. Especially the influx or artists and
young professionals from the City. They provide the " juice "
which is fueling the Beacon Renaissance. And I'm convinced that
that trend is irreversible.

Beautiful Three-Bedroom Cottage for Rent

Rentals like this are few and far between. Located on a cul-de-sac not far from an abandoned old bridge, this secluded brick charmer with Mansard roof and dormer windows has infinite possibilities -- as a dreamy retreat for year-round living, or a weekend country get-away.

Three bedrooms, including one that can be used as a sky-lit studio or office with it's…

Hello Daniel:

i just read your website - you seem like a very interesting guy. The houses you have for rent look fantastic - at this point, we're hoping not to rent, but I'm going to go out on a limb and see if you can offer some advice.

We're exactly the city types you describe, with one wrinkle (of course - its part of being the city type). My wife is just starting as a professor of environmental chemistry at Vassar, so our geographic concerns are likely to keep us in place for a while. (I work in Manhattan at a international human rights org.)

We've been looking for a place to buy, but havent had much luck - the old victorians we can afford are too small, the newer construction further out of the core feels like soulless. We're working with a broker we like, but we aren't seeing anything that feels feasible.

We're considering building anew (or possibly modular) on a lot available near downtown, but that feels daunting - hence my other post, looking for builder recommendations.

So, this might be a whole discussion you have no interest in being part of, but if you have any thoughts or advice, or if you're thinking of selling the place you just renovated, let me know.
