I just switched my dental insurance at work and was looking to try and get a Beacon dentist. The only one that was covered by it was an Ivan Ginder on Henry Street. Does anyone know anything about him? The only info I was able to find was that he has been practicing for 30+ years.

I don't know him but I use Dr. White at Fishkill Dental on Main Street in Fishkill - he's very good and also been practicing for years.
I will be going to Ivan Ginder in 2-week. I will let you know how it goes

Although there's nothing on Ivan Ginder yet, here are some more recommendations for dentists in the area:

Sounds like we have the same insurance.  I've been to Dr. Ginder a few times and he's been fine.  He's not one for much communication, and he works incredibly quickly (up for grabs whether that's a positive or a negative).  That said, there are many dentists in Newburgh on my plan and I'd love to know if anyone has any recommendations for Newburgh dentists.

I went for my cleaning and check-up and I swear I wasnt in the chair more than 5 minutes. I apparently have a small cavity that needs to be taken care of. Hope he spends a bit more time on it.

Alison - I believe we do have the same insurance as there are a bunch available in Newburgh but, well, it IS Newburgh.

I recently went to Dr. Ginder and -- as others have noted -- he spends no more than 5 minutes max on each patient. I've never had such a rush-job cleaning. After I got home I noticed that he missed several places where I had some plaque build-up. In other words, he did a bad job.

Two years ago a dentist mentioned that I had a cavity forming in a back tooth. Dr. Ginder didn't notice that on my x-rays until after I pointed it out to him. Again, bad work.

As a result of his sloppy, rush-job work, I switched to a dentist in Newburgh, who I'm seeing next week. I'll let you know if he's any better, but it seems like my dental plan (Aetna DMO) doesn't really attract good dentists.

Marc - please do let us know how it goes with the Newburgh dentist.  I have Aetna DMO too, and I'd love to find a dentist who spends more than five minutes cleaning my teeth and whom I can trust with more serious work if required.

Thanks and good luck!

I have an appointment with Ginder on the 28th. Maybe I need to cancel....
I'll keep you informed about my Newburgh dentist, Dr. Freud in the Newburgh Mall. (But as Attila noted, it IS Newburgh...)
So I went and had my cavity done. I wasnt in the chair more than 10 minutes total. Very weird.

I just left my new dentist, the office of Freud & Goldstein in the Newburgh Mall. Very different experience from Ginder.

The Newburgh dentist looks like a big industrial office, with dozens of people in the waiting room. But I waited no more than 10 minutes before I saw Dr. Wahad, who seemed very personable and conscientious. She explained several things to me and took much more time than Ginder.

She also found a small cavity that Ginder missed (that makes 2 cavities Ginder missed -- not surprising, considering that he spent a grand total of 3 minutes dealing with my teeth).

If you're stuck with Aetna DMO, I'd definitely recommend Freud & Goldstein over Ginder any day. In fact, I called Aetna and filed a complaint against Ginder, who seems to be committing insurance fraud by billing for cleanings that he completes in 90 seconds.

Good to know. I do believe I will be switching as well.
