Safe Harbors of the Hudson, a large scale redevelopment project in the City of Newburgh which combines housing and the arts, is continuing its monthly informational tours.
Safe Harbors, whose mission is transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts, purchased the old Hotel Newburgh in 2002 and turned the blighted eyesore into the Cornerstone Residence. Named Supportive Housing Network of New York’s “Residence of the Year” in 2007, the Cornerstone is home to 128 adults including the formerly homeless, veterans, those living with mental health diagnoses, artist and low income working adults in need of affordable housing. The project also includes the Ann Street Gallery, a contemporary arts venue, and the Ritz Theater Lobby, a live performing arts space.
The tours will highlight how Safe Harbors transformative supportive housing, award-winning contemporary art gallery and performing arts theater is instrumental to the revitalization of downtown Newburgh. Included in the tour will be a ticket giveaway to an upcoming concert at the Ritz!
