INNOVATIVE FILM SERIES COMES TO BEACON - MARCH 12 & 13
Dia:Beacon and The Beacon Welcomes Famous Art Collectors
The Beacon Theater and Dia:Beacon are hosting a screening of "Herb and Dorothy" - the incredible true story of Herb and Dorothy Vogel - a working-class couple that bought art as a hobby over several decades and wound up with a priceless collection! Herb and Dorothy Vogel will be in attendance and will join the director, Megumi Sasaki, composer, David Majzlin, Jack Cowart, Executive Director of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, and Charles Clough, one of the artists that the Vogels collected. A reception by the celebrated Fresh Company of Garrison will follow at the Dia:Beacon.
Another film is screening the following day - March 13th - "Fresh" is a highly acclaimed film that introduces us to the innovators and thinkers behind the sustainable farm movement. The director and notables from the sustainable ag movement will be on hand to discuss what we need to do to change our food system right now - followed by a local farm fresh lunch supplied by Fresh Company and Hudson Valley Fresh.
All proceeds from this event will benefit the restoration efforts underway at The Beacon, the 700-seat, Art-Deco gem that is located on Beacon’s historic Main Street’s “Theatre Square”. One day this could be a great movie theater...
