There will be an opening / ribbon cutting of the Dave Miller Connector Trail (formerly known as the Waterfront - Madam Brett Trail Connector) at 2:30pm on November 20, 2013, at the head of the new trail (east side of the bridge on Denning's Avenue that spans the main line of Metro North's Hudson Line). There will be a short walk of the trail following the ceremony. All are welcome.
The Connector trail provides a safe way for people to travel from the Hudson River waterfront to Madam Brett Park. It is a vital, and until now missing, link in the Fishkill Creek Greenway and Heritage Trail, The Beacon Loop Trail, and Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail. These trails will also connect with A Trail of Two Cities, a designated Greenway trail that runs through Beacon, across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, and through the City of Newburgh.
The trail was constructed by the City of Beacon in collaboration with Metro-North Railroad and Scenic Hudson. It also supports the Hudson River Valley Greenway’s original objective to complete a continuous trail along the Hudson River shore, wherever possible, with inland connections to nearby villages and city centers.
