Beacon Institute is proud to partner with Friends of Fahnestock and Hudson Highlands State Parks to present a special lecture on October 29th at the CEIE at Denning's Point in Beacon. Distinguished scientist and conservation leader Fred Koontz will speak about "Creating a Hudson Hills and Highlands Living Landscape". Join us and learn about a new perspective on the conservation and education opportunities in our region and for our parks. About 785,000 people share the 936-square mile area with a rich diversity of habitats, plants and animals. Dr. Koontz is Executive Director of Teatown Lake Reservation and is joining forces with other groups and institutions across the bioregion to strengthen the public's motivation and ability both to conserve biodiversity and to protect the ecological services that nature provides us - essential actions for sustainable living. Guests should arrive at the parking area at the base of Denning's Avenue at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy the quarter-mile late autumn walk into the park. Capacity is limited for this event, pre-registration is required at www.bire.org.
