Blackbird Attic presents "Milk-Eyed Mender", art by Meera Lee Patel
Meera Lee Patel is an illustrator and designer from the east coast interested in creating beautiful things. She is inspired largely by nature, literature, and feeling, and longs for each of her illustrations to tell its own story. She likes magic, hunger, and bare feet.
Milk-Eyed Mender is a series of original paintings inspired by Joanna Newsom's album of the same name. "As I tend to do when a certain piece of music or art strikes my interest, I listened to the album exclusively while creating these works, replaying it about thirty times," said Patel. These works are infused with Newsom's unusual understanding of the world and the artists desire to find beauty in everything around her -- in sadness, nature, among complicated and messy terrains.
Join us at Blackbird Attic on September 8th from 6-9pm for the opening reception on Beacon's Second Saturday. We will serve cupcakes, snacks, and wine. Art will be on view and available for purchase until October 12th.
